Goldenkit opened her eyes, awake from her nap. Taking a few steps out of her nest, she tripped. "Darkfrost!" she wailed to her mother. "Can I have some food?"

Darkfrost's eyes immediately flew awake, and she scrambled to her paws, picking up Goldenkit by the scruff. "Come here, little one. Of course you can have some food." She put the small ebony kitten down in the nest, then quickly went to the Fresh-kill pile. She picked up a big mouse, then trotted back to the Nursery, putting the mouse down. "Here you go, Goldenkit."

Goldenkit put her head into the mouse and started chewing into it. "Did Swiftbreeze catch this for us?" she mewed between bites. When she was full, Goldenkit offered the rest of the mouse to her mother.

Darkfrost took a deep sniff of the mouse and smiled. "Yes, he did." She murmured, nodding her thanks to her kit as the black queen quickly finished off the meal.

Goldenkit looked up at her mother's soothing gaze. Pouncing, she had a mouthful of fur. "Got your tail!" she squeaked.

Darkfrost purred, then flicked her tail around for Goldenkit to catch. "Are you sure about that?" She laughed, deep blue eyes shining happily.

Goldenkit unsheathed her tiny claws and climbed up Darkfrost's back and lay on her head. "When will Swiftbreeze see us?"

[Darkfrost]

Darkfrost smiled and lay down on her belly. "I'm not sure, dear. I expect very soon; he'll want high expectations of his little warrior." She purred, gently letting Goldenkit tumble down from her head onto her back, then onto the softly-padded floor.

Goldenkit rolled onto her back, groaned and swatted the air with her paws. "What do you mean by high expectations?"

Darkfrost smiled as she watched her kit, then sighed. "Well, Spiritbreeze is a high warrior, as you know. He'll want you to follow in his pawsteps, I'm sure." She murmured, gently brushing Goldenkit's body with her tail. "Come back into the nest, Goldenkit. It's getting dark, and by the time the moon is up fully, you should be asleep." The black queen stood up, then looked back at her kit. "Stay here." She went to the entrance of the den, peeking out and seeing that the sun had already set. A chill leafbare breeze sped past her face, making her shiver and retreat back into the den. "It's very cold outside. You can't go out again." Darkfrost told Goldenkit. "Ok? No sneaking out tonight."

Goldenkit rolled over, "Fine, I won't go outside, but what if I don't want to be a warrior? What if I want to be a medicine cat?" Golden kit stood up and looked at her mother. Darkfrost's pelt looked batted from the wind. "What will he do to me?" she asked quietly.

(Question: What will he do to me? Answer: Destroy your life in the clans, try to make you a rouge >.<)

Darkfrost sighed. She didn't want to think about Spiritbreeze's sharp tongue. "Come along now, Goldenkit." She murmured softly, picking up her kit again. But she didn't carry her anywhere. She just lay down, and wrapped Goldenkit's small body with her own black one. "Do you want to be a medicine cat?"

Goldenkit lay on her back. "Yes," she moaned.

[Darkfrost]

Darkfrost gulped. She, herself, was happy for Goldenkit to become a healing, caring Medicine Cat, but Spiritbreeze would think differently. He would try to kill their poor kitten, she was sure. "Your father will not like that, you know. He wants you to be a strong, fighting warrior. I actually think he wants you to be leader."

Goldenkit jumped to her paws. "He can be the leader!" she hissed. Sitting back down, she mumbled, "And to think I was proud to have him as my father! He won't let me do what I want!"
